LegitScript Waives Some Certification Fees to Help Telehealth Providers Meet Pandemic Demand

LegitScript's mission - making the internet and payments ecosystems safer and more transparent - is more important than ever in the midst of the ongoing pandemic related to the novel coronavirus. As you may have read in the media or with our own reporting, there is a lot going on with cybercrime related to the COVID-19 outbreak. We're aggressively monitoring the internet for everything from fake cures and counterfeit test kits to donation scams and overpriced coronavirus-related products.

However, an equally important problem people are facing is access to healthcare and addiction treatment services during a time when huge portions of the population have been ordered to stay at home. We want to help fix that problem.

While our work often focuses on identifying and weeding out bad actors, it also has a different side: making it easier for compliant companies to do business online. For many people in the US and around the world who are currently unable or afraid to leave their homes, telemedicine and online addiction treatment services are becoming a vital lifeline to receiving care. Online healthcare services can fill the gap for people who need medical consultations, counseling, or refills of prescriptions.

To meet the sudden demand for telemedicine and online addiction treatment services as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak, LegitScript is currently waiving the fees for expedited processing for providers who are eligible and apply for LegitScript certification by May 8, 2020. Other fees still apply.

Expedited processing helps to expedite the start of the review of an applicant's application. Generally, applications are processed in the order that they are received. Adding the Expedited Processing Service ensures that an application is added to the expedited queue. Note that this service does not shorten the length of the certification review, but will result in the certification review beginning sooner.

As traditional addiction treatment and healthcare providers move to offer telehealth services, we hope this fee waiver will make it quicker for these providers to participate in the payments and internet ecosystems. Ultimately, we hope it gives patients across the US and around the world more options to receive care through telemedicine and online addiction treatment services, knowing that they can trust the providers with the LegitScript seal.

LegitScript's Healthcare Merchant Certification offers a recognized seal of approval for compliant telemedicine providers that helps them advertise on major platforms such as Google and Bing, and ensures they are in compliance with Visa's and Mastercard's rules regarding telemedicine, which may help them obtain a card-not-present merchant account.

LegitScript's Drug and Alcohol Addiction Treatment Certification provides the only certification service for drug and alcohol addiction treatment providers that is relied on by Google, Bing, and Facebook to vet advertisers for eligibility. Certified addiction treatment providers can reduce costly interruptions to their Google Ads, Bing Ads, and Facebook Ads by getting LegitScript-certified.

During this uncertain time, we're working to stop predatory operators online and also helping to connect consumers with legitimate providers. If you're a provider of telemedicine or online addiction treatment services, apply now to expedite your application for LegitScript certification.

Editor's note: The offer for free expedited processing is now expired.
