Last week, LegitScript added 349 websites to the database, 94% of which were rogue pharmacies or steroid sellers. The top two registrars of these new domain names were Internet.bs, with 108 websites, and ABSystems, with 61. (As previously noted in this blog, Internet.bs is doing an outstanding job with Internet compliance related to online pharmacies, and LegitScript will notify Internet.bs about these rogue websites.) As expected, the Pill Program rogue pharmacy network is represented in equal numbers to its preferred registrar, ABSystems, with 61 new websites. Other online pharmacy domain name registrations showed some other commonly used registrars:
- PublicDomainRegistry: 16 websites, some of which are in the MyRxAffiliateProgram network
- Moniker: 13 websites, a handful of which belong to the PharmacySources network
Another noteworthy registrar from the past week’s uploaded sites is GMO Internet Inc., aka Onamae.com, a Japanese registrar that accounted for 27 domain names in the database. Of those 27 websites, 14 belong to either BestKusuri or Hampstead Corporation, two Japanese pharmacy networks LegitScript has been monitoring closely in recent weeks. BestKusuri is a pharmacy network whose flagship site, bestkusuri.com, we shut down this month, and some of the new domain names added to our database — besto-kusuri.com, bestkusuri.net and bestkenko.com — were direct results of the shutdown.
We will be writing in much more detail about the BestKusuri network, its illegal operations and its ties to a Singapore Internet firm soon, so stay tuned!
