Rx-Partners online pharmacy fakes a GPhC seal

In rare instances, the large criminal Internet pharmacy networks are so bold as to rip off the certification seal of the United Kingdom’s General Pharmaceutical Council, which issues the tiny green icons to UK online pharmacies to certify that they comply with UK regulations. (An authentic GPhC seal would usually link to a page on…

Holy Protein Shakes! (Part II) How rogue domain name resellers, fake merchants and high-risk acquirers collaborate

Our most recent post showed how rogue Internet pharmacies like sleepingtablets-online.com use seemingly innocuous websites like buy-protein-shakes-online.com to process customer payments. Our blog concluded by identifying name server rockhamptonserver.com as a “anchor” website apparently dedicated to the illicit activity, and noted that the payment processing pages, immepay.com and fashionpay.com, appear to be registered in China. An…

Holy Protein Shakes! (Part I) How rogue domain name resellers, fake merchants and high-risk acquirers collaborate

Ah, those pesky rogue protein shake merchants … at it once again! Rogue Internet pharmacy operators go to great lengths to conceal their activities from search engine advertising programs, domain name registrars, and even the banks they do business with. One common tactic: pretending that they are only selling shoes, cowbells or, in this case,…

The anchor websites so far have not been replaced…

According to the latest data available, the registrars in our current Top 10 provide registration services for the largest numbers of rogue Internet pharmacies, with few changes from last month. All the…

Rogues and Registrars: Top 10 List (May 2013)

Like last month, there have been hardly any changes in rankings of the domain name registrars where rogue Internet pharmacies set up shop. We have been following the rise of Japan’s GMO Internet (aka onamae.com or お名前.com) in the ranks since we began closely tracking this data. The registrar, which first moved into the Top 10 in…

Rogues and Registrars: Top 10 List (April 2013)

Since our analysis last month, there hasn’t been much movement among the domain name registrars that are used most often by the operators of rogue Internet pharmacies — though as we track this monthly data, we remove registrars who are forward-leaning in responsible corporate governance. This month, the Chinese companies TodayNIC and BizCN are still the top…

Call it March Madness. Since our last update on the most popular domain name registrars where rogue Internet pharmacies cluster, there have been major changes in the ranks. With the sudden disappearance of many websites controlled by usually dominant ABSystems (a topic to be explored in a future blog post), several registrars have climbed higher…
