Who should apply for CBD Product Certification?

CBD Product Certification is designed for businesses that manufacture, distribute, or sell eligible hemp-derived CBD products and want independent verification that those products meet LegitScript's Certification Standards.

This program certifies individual products, not websites.

If your goal is to advertise a website selling CBD products, you'll also need CBD Website Certification.

What products are eligible for CBD Product Certification?

CBD Product Certification is available for eligible hemp-derived CBD products that comply with applicable federal and state laws.

Personal care products

Cosmetics
Soaps
Lotions
Creams
Topicals

Hemp products

Whole hemp flower

In addition to meeting our eligibility requirements, products must comply with our Certification Standards, including applicable manufacturing, testing, and labeling requirements.

What products are generally not eligible?

Products are generally not eligible if they fall under the below categories.

Products intended for consumption

Foods
Dietary supplements
Ingestible CBD products
Oral or sublingual tinctures

Other product types

Vape products
Pet products

THC and marijuana products

Marijuana products
Products containing more than 0.3% Delta-9 THC
Products containing Delta-8 THC
Products containing other intoxicating hemp-derived cannabinoids or THC isomers

Applicants must also be able to provide documentation demonstrating compliance with our Certification Standards, including proof of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), where required.

What if I'm not sure whether my product is eligible?

As a general rule of thumb, products that are applied to the body are generally eligible, while products that are consumed or otherwise go into the body generally are not.

The primary exception is the whole hemp flower, which is eligible for certification.

Can I certify only some of my products?

Yes.

You may certify individual eligible products even if your business also sells products that are not eligible for certification.

Each eligible product is reviewed independently for compliance with our Certification Standards, including manufacturing practices, product labeling, and transparency requirements.

How much does CBD Product Certification cost?

Certification fees are assessed per product.

Annual Certification Fee	$1,000 per product

The annual certification fee is due only if your product is approved.

Are discounts available?

Yes.

Use promo code CBDPRODapp during enrollment to waive the application fee.

Annual certification fees still apply for approved products.

Can I certify multiple products?

Yes.

You may submit multiple products within a single application.

Each product is reviewed individually and assessed its own certification fees.

How do I prove my product is certified?

Once your product is approved:

You'll receive an approval email.
Your certified product will be added to LegitScript's public list of Certified CBD Products.

Unlike Healthcare, Addiction Treatment, and CBD Website Certification, CBD Product Certification does not include a public website verification page or certification seal.

Is there a certificate or certification seal?

No.

CBD Product Certification does not include:

A printable certificate
A website seal
A public website verification page

Your product's listing in the Certified CBD Products directory serves as verification of certification.

What changes do I need to report after certification?

Please notify [email protected] if there are significant changes affecting a certified product.

Do you monitor claims made about certified CBD products?

Yes.

We monitor claims made on applicant websites and product packaging to help ensure continued compliance with our Certification Standards.

Certified products must not make prohibited or unsubstantiated health claims, including disease-treatment claims that are not permitted under applicable regulations.

How do I add another certified product?

You do not need to submit a new application.

To add another product:

Email [email protected].
Complete a compliance review for the additional product.
Pay the applicable application fee.

Additional products share the same renewal date as your existing certification.

Renewal discount

If an additional product is approved within six months of your renewal date, its initial annual certification fee will be reduced by 50%.

What are the benefits of CBD Product Certification?

CBD Product Certification demonstrates that an individual product meets LegitScript's Certification Standards.

Can I advertise with only CBD Product Certification?

No.

CBD Product Certification certifies individual products only.

If your goal is to advertise CBD products on platforms such as Google or Meta, you'll also need CBD Website Certification, which certifies the website selling those products.

Who should apply?

CBD Website Certification is designed for businesses that sell eligible CBD products online and want to advertise on supported major platforms, such as Google and Meta.

To qualify, every CBD product sold on the website must already be individually certified through LegitScript's CBD Product Certification program.

What websites are eligible for CBD Website Certification?

To be eligible, a website must meet all of the following requirements:

Every CBD product sold on the website is individually certified by LegitScript.
All products sold on the website comply with applicable federal and state laws.
Any affiliated websites under your control also comply with applicable laws.
CBD products are marketed and sold only to consumers located in the United States.

What websites are generally not eligible?

Websites are generally not eligible if they do not meet our Certification Standards.

Websites that sell CBD products that are not individually certified by LegitScript
Websites that sell products that are not compliant with applicable federal or state laws

Affiliated websites

Businesses that manufacture, market, or sell out-of-scope CBD or THC products on any website under the applicant's control

Products that make a website ineligible

Examples include websites selling:

Products intended for consumption

Foods
Dietary supplements
Ingestible CBD products
Oral or sublingual tinctures

Vape products
Pet products

Because CBD Website Certification evaluates the applicant's overall business operations, products sold on affiliated websites may also affect eligibility.

What if I'm not sure whether my website is eligible?

Ask yourself the following questions:

Are all CBD products sold on the website individually certified by LegitScript?
Do all products comply with applicable federal and state laws?
Do any affiliated websites under your control sell products that fall outside our Certification Standards?
Are your CBD products marketed and sold only to consumers in the United States?

If you answered yes to all of these questions, your website is likely eligible.

Can I sell non-certified CBD products on another website that I own?

No.

CBD Website Certification evaluates not only the website seeking certification, but also other websites under the applicant's control.

If another website you own sells products that fall outside our Certification Standards, it may affect the eligibility of your certified website.

How much does CBD Website Certification cost?

Certification fees are assessed per website.

How do I prove my website is certified?

Every certified website is publicly listed using LegitScript's See the Status of a Website tool.

Your verification page follows this format:

https://www.legitscript.com/websites/<your-domain>

You can share this page with advertising platforms, payment providers, and business partners to verify your certification status.

Is there a certificate or certification seal?

We do not issue printable or physical certificates.

Once your website is approved, we'll email your LegitScript certification seal along with instructions for displaying it on your website.

If you need your seal code re-sent, email [email protected].

My website isn't showing as certified, or my certification seal isn't working. What should I do?

Please allow up to 24 hours after approval for your public listing and certification seal to become available.

If you're still experiencing issues after 24 hours, email [email protected] and we'll be happy to help.

Do you monitor claims made on certified websites?

Yes.

We monitor claims made on certified websites to help ensure continued compliance with our Certification Standards.

Products and marketing materials must not contain prohibited or unsubstantiated health claims, including disease-treatment claims that are not permitted under applicable regulations.

How do I advertise on Google or Meta after my website is certified?

CBD Website Certification is an important requirement for advertising eligible CBD products, but certification alone does not activate advertising.

After your website is certified:

Google

Complete Google's CBD advertising certification process.
Ensure the information you provide to Google matches your LegitScript certification, including your certified product names.

My website is certified, but my ads are still being rejected. Why?

Certification makes your website eligible to participate in supported advertising programs, but it does not guarantee advertising approval.

Advertising platforms evaluate many factors in addition to LegitScript Certification, including:

Platform advertising policies
Product eligibility
Geographic targeting
Ad content
Landing page content
Account history

If your ads are rejected, review the platform's advertising policies and contact the platform directly. LegitScript cannot predict, interpret, modify, or appeal advertising decisions made by advertising platforms.

What are the benefits of CBD Website Certification?

CBD Website Certification demonstrates that your website meets LegitScript's Certification Standards and may provide access to important advertising opportunities.

Benefits include:

Eligibility to advertise on major platforms, such as Google and Meta (subject to each platform's advertising policies)
Independent verification that every CBD product sold on your website has been individually certified by LegitScript
Increased consumer confidence through independent certification
Recognition by participating business partners and payment providers

Please note: LegitScript Certification may be required to participate in certain advertising programs, but it does not guarantee advertising approval.
