US Online Eyeglass Seller iCareRx Certification

Are you an online seller of eyeglasses in the US? Let consumers know it’s safe to order from your website. Get LegitScript approved.

What are the benefits?

Build credibility with consumers. Getting LegitScript approved allows you to display our seal of approval and lets consumers know your website has been evaluated as safe.

LegitScript is a trusted name in the realm of online pharmacies and healthcare products. Our online pharmacy certification program is recognized and endorsed by the NABP, and our healthcare product classifications are relied upon by major Internet and financial companies.

With many online eyeglass sellers for consumers to choose from, having LegitScript approval helps your website stand out from the crowd.

How does it work?

The iCareRx certification process looks at eight standards to see if your website is safe for consumers. These standards include, among others:

  • Validity of Prescriptions
  • Legal Compliance
  • Patient Services
  • Privacy Protection

For more information, please refer to our Eyeglass Certification Standards and our Merchant and Website Classification Guide.

What you should know

  • We generally will not approve an eyeglass seller’s website if the WHOIS (registrant) information is anonymous or privacy-protected. You can check whether your information is currently privacy-protected at
  • LegitScript will not approve an eyeglass seller that dispenses eyeglasses without a valid prescription as required by applicable state law.
  • We do not approve websites providing eyeglasses in a way that the FDA has indicated is contrary to US law (like selling eyeglass lenses that have not been tested for impact resistance).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the one-time application fee required even if I do not get approved?

Yes. However, our standard practice is to let you know what areas of non-compliance we found related to our certification standards. If you re-apply within the year, we typically will not charge the one-time application fee again.

Why do you charge different fees for additional URLs?

We recognize that some merchants may have multiple websites. In these cases, since the merchant is the same, we can lower our prices for the additional URLs. In cases where the content is identical or nearly identical, and the domain name-related information (e.g., the Whois record) is the same, LegitScript charges a substantially lower fee that is about 10% of the fee for the main URL. In cases where the content or the domain name-related information is meaningfully different, we charge a fee that is about 70% of the base fee. Which additional URL fee applies is in LegitScript’s sole discretion.

How do you determine which "additional URL" fees apply?

We look at the totality of the circumstances. Among the factors we may consider are:

  • Whether the URL redirects to the main URL
  • Whether the content differs from the main URL
  • Whether the brand is different from the brand promoted on the main URL
  • Whether the pricing is different from the pricing on the main URL
  • Whether the Whois and DNS details are different from those of the main URL
  • Whether the URL shares the same ownership or management structure

These factors may be given differing weights depending upon the overall context.
